My quest for organization : Part two

Good purple morning to you!

Before we talk about my cry for help/medication/intervention for my need for order... let's review a few of my recent projects to put things in their proper place.

The Swedes, for heaven's sake they thought of all that great Scandinavian design that I love. IKEA people, IKEA. One would think that this would extend to their automobiles.

Here is the valet card holder on my windshield. Do they have lots of valet parking in Sweden? I don't know. All I know is that they don't have runny noses or sensitive eyes otherwise, they might have made at least a little place for Kleenex or sunglasses. Don't even get me started on a purse, diaper bag.... automakers? are you listening?

Where was I? oh, sunglasses and Kleenex. I attempted to solve my problem by making this little prototype

It works well. I like that it can be swung around if someone needs to sit in the passenger seat. Imagine how much better it would be if I had (gasp!) measured! I'll let you see my next version. If you're lucky you might get one as a gift.

I went to a little estate sale yesterday where I purchased this white .... ORGANIZER. Can you imagine? It was only $8. a steal. It required a complete re-org of the whole closet, at 9 pm of course.

My little Lucy pee peed on the potty today so I might be making some posts about that in the future, so be prepared.

xo,
Lisa

Things I swore I would never do. Part one

Junk food, weird food and t.v. - I think these were the things that I was not going to allow. Mwwwwaahahah. Look at the satisfied, ahhhh Anna is saying after eating her water, adipic acid, locust bean gum, carrageenan, sodium citarate, fumaric acid, potassium citrate, artficial flavor, Blue 1 and natural flavor, a.k.a. Kool aid gel. Yum!

Anna picked out this delectable treat at the Dollar General.

To make matters worse, I let them eat two.

Does this work?

DSC_0003-2, originally uploaded by lisacooper100.

A ha! I'm figuring some things out.

These are just some random shots of some random stuff around the house, Yes I have a problem with making robot t-shirts. These were a specific request.

I'm liking the pictures, how about you?

On the easel

Today I'm experimenting with posting from flickr. This is a painting on the easel right now. What is my problem with getting a consistent color? Hmm. I need to work a little more to get this right.

I have been posting from picasa but I think the quality of the picture is a little off. You can always click on the photo to see an enlarged image of my boring life.

There may be another post today if I can't figure out how to post another image from flickr.

Happenings

We just returned from a fun weekend with Jonathan's family in Chattanooga.

Anna played with the "snow fairies". I thought she was imagining the snow flakes to be fairies then I realized she misunderstood the word "flurries".

We have had some cold days, 25 degrees today - Lees, I don't know how you do it!

Lucy was diagnosed with asthma. I guess these will become a fixture in our lives.

I suppose there are 3 year olds out there pretending to use a blackberry, packing an imaginary briefcase and pretending to go to work just like mommy. At my house, on the other hand, Anna pretended to make soup and gave out some scathing warnings of what would happen if we didn't finish our meal.

I hope you all stay warm and finish your soup or NO DESSERT!

Why do I buy toys?

The duck is having a lovely snack of packing peanuts in a real snack jar. Never mind that we have a ton of cute play food. At least my girls have some imagination.

Speaking of imagination, "Hawk and Mercy" are Anna's imaginary friends. I don't hear as much about them as I used to. Apparently they are living in the toilet right now.

My quest for organization

Some of you may know of my quest for organization. Jonathan says that if I'm not reorganizing, I'm not happy. I think if I could just get organized... things would stay neater. I know, I know, who am I kidding?

So, here are some of my attempts at organizing. Some are successful, others not so much.

Here is a little pegboard art display. One for Anna, Lucy and Mommy. I found the paint on the mis-matched paint shelf. I think it's called
"slaughterhouse floor". Just kidding. It's a whole lotta red though. This is working well for us, especially the little elastic bands and the bottom.

This is the BEST. I saw this somewhere on the internet so I can't take credit. It is basically drawer organizers made out of cereal/cracker boxes. Since I throw several boxes away each week, this took no time. I have purchased those plastic organizers in the past and they always almost work. Whenever I open the drawer everything would slide a little too the back and when I shut it I could hear everything sliding back to the front. I am always too cheap to shell out enough money to buy as many as I want anyway.

So, to make this you simply cut the bottom or side of box to the depth of your drawer. I used a utility knife but sturdy scissors would work. Everything has a little nook and because the boxes are so varied in size and flexible you get a nice tight fit.

Ok, I know that I could have painted my whole kitchen with the amount of money that I have spent on those blasted Benjamin Moore sample bottles you see. Man, those things are like crack.

Great for the "junk" drawer:

The kitchen utensil drawer:

I would post a photo of the bathroom drawers too but I think you get the point and I don't want to expose my multitude of anti aging products.

In closing we can assume that A. I need medication or B. I am missing my calling as a professional organizer.

Super Betsy

I made these little girls yesterday. The one on the left is Super Betsy made especially for my friend and neighbor Betsy. It looks like super Betsy is coming to the rescue of Lazy Lisa who was too lazy to even turn her legs inside out before stuffing them.

This little doll pattern can be found at Martha Stewart's website. When I learn how to do it, I'll start posting links!

Out with the old

In with the new.

Good by flip phone hello candy bar.
This phone can do waaaay more things than I need. I'm not a heavy cell phone user, probably because I'm always at home.

I was laughing as I entered in the address book. It didn't take me very long. Sadly, not because I'm a whiz with the phone but because I had so little to put in this time. I don't often call many of my friends from the cell phone ( you know, that staying at home ) and our favorite restaurants have been replaced by the pharmacy and the pediatrician.

How things change.

I'm sure that there was a warning about this too.

I thought that this would end badly, but Lucy really seemed to have fun.

Happy New Year

Someone told me once, whatever you do on New Year's day is what you will be doing all year long. So, I spent some time at the art table and sewing this little thing that has been on my mind for a while and I talked really nice to my Mom on the phone.

The girls played with the doll stroller. I'm sure there was some warning about using it like this. Christmas toys you ask? Ha. They are playing with the same stuff they were playing with before.

Today I spent time with this morsel of cuteness and his mother. Good times!
